“For the first time in many years“

“Hello!

Glory to Ukraine!

As always, on Fridays, my wife bakes challahs. It was the same on 25.02, the second day of the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

She just put a shaped dough into the oven, under our windows on the other side of the river in the center of (city name here) landed Russian troops. Ukrainian fighters welcomed them with gunfire. A fight broke out. It lasted for around an hour. All the enemies were destroyed…

But the challahs were calmly baked and were very tasty.

It’s just that we were so scared that we started eating only late at night,

Glory to Ukraine!”

Hello!

Just today I was planning to write to Centropa to tell you about our life in the city, which has been besieged by Russia for three weeks now!

At 12:40, I was sitting and conducting online training in journalism practice for students. It is almost springtime, and the birds are singing. The window is open. Distant artillery cannonade - that is, Ukrainian Armed Forces “shipping some gifts“ at the positions of the orcs in the Kherson direction. There is no signal of airborne alert...

And then a rocket hit the neighboring house with a terrible hissing from the sea, just 50 meters from my house. Horrible noise, the Internet did not disappear, but my chair bounced...

I jumped up and ran to the corridor, behind the 3rd wall ... and then another rocket destroyed the old building of the mental hospital, which is 350 meters from us ...

I will now record all my online classes.

The first pictures of the destroyed hotel and hospital appeared on local news channels and websites in 10 minutes. This is often done in our city by my former students, who work in each media outlet.

Since the second day of the war, we have been doing news with the graduates, and we have been on the hotlines with courageous soldiers simultaneously. The reporters now tell the truth about the war and do not allow the enemy propaganda to break the will of the Ukrainians against the aggression.

This is how we live...

In the photos: I am with Yaroslav - a graduate of the year 2017 and with St. Nicholas - the patron of my hometown.

I have received the help [from you]!

Thank you! New challenges: the orcs have captured the water pumping station that supplies water to [...]. It starts in the [...] in Kherson region…

Now we have been without water for a week. Currently, we are using water from the river, but yesterday, for example, there were five missile bombings… It is dangerous to gather in big groups. There are no leaves on the trees by the water yet…

We are holding up!

For the first time in many years, we did not have matzo for the Passover…
